Monument Prevention Coalition is a community partnership0 whose mission is to create a community consensus that clearly states that underage alcohol use, excessive alcohol use, and marijuana use is illegal, unhealthy and unacceptable.
Monument Prevention undertakes a comprehensive approach to preventing underage drinking, excessive alcohol use and marijuana use by educating the public on the seriousness of substance misuse, collaborating to increase enforcement of Nebraska’s alcohol and marijuana laws, working for effective state and local policies, and by working to decrease youth access and availability while involving youth in our advocacy efforts.
Monument Prevention Coalition began in November of 2012 when a group of community group dedicated their lives to working together in keeping our youth safe and healthy. This group has accomplished by focusing on policy initiatives, enforcement collaborations, media, education and awareness, and youth leadership. As a community coalition, we endeavor to fulfill our mission with integrity. Our collaborative efforts undertaken so far have brought this coalition to a place of prominence in the community in underage alcohol use and excessive alcohol use prevention and advocacy. As Robert Wood Johnson Foundation states, "underage drinking is a community problem that has a community solution. This community is stepping forward to work for a solution and change the landscape on the acceptance of not only underage drinking but also excessive alcohol use and marijuana use.
